Boost HDI, Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province Alludes the Reducing Stunting Indicators

PONTIANAK - Regional Secretary of West Kalimantan Province, dr. Harisson, alluded the problem of Reducing Stunting as an indicator of Human Development Index (HDI). He reminded, reducing stunting was not a homework for health sector only,  but also the others.

“Next, some organization units are hoped to focus the workplan in increasing regional HDI, because one of indicators is reducing stunting. So, the reducing stunting is not a responsibility of health sector only. It supports only 30 percent, meanwhile other sectors supports until 70 percent,” stated the Secretary when chaired the Meeting of Food Security and Vulnerability Atlas (FSVA) Discussion and Utilization at Praja II Meeting Room West Kalimantan Governor’s Office, Wednesday (9/2/2022).

Regarding the parenting of children in the family, he invited the women's organizations to cooperate and participate in reducing stunting in West Kalimantan.

“Actually, we can synergize with the PKK. In addition, we must also cooperate with relevant regional officials regarding women's empowerment,” Harisson explained.

The FSVA meeting was attended by Act. the Head of the West Kalimantan Province of BKKBN (National Family Planning Coordinating Agency), Muslimat, the West Kalimantan Provincial the Family Welfare Movement Team Manager (PKK Kalbar), and several related regional organization heads within the West Kalimantan Provincial Government.

It is known that the FSVA food security and vulnerability map is a thematic map that describes the visualization of an area at the national, provincial, district/city, sub-district and village levels. The benefit of the FSVA is to find out the factors causing food insecurity in areas, as a reference material in determining the types and locations of activities in order to reduce food vulnerability, related to infrastructure, education, health, electricity, clean water, and stunting. Then to improve food security, all sectors must synergize according to their respective roles, especially in locations that require intervention according to the FSVA analysis.
